THE COMPLETE POKER EDGE COURSE

A study path for
the whole game.

Build your understanding of no-limit hold’em from the first preflop decision to the difficult river call. Across seven connected modules, you will learn how the maths, the ranges and the situation fit together, then practise applying that thinking to cash games and tournaments.

Designed for adult beginners and developing players who want a structured course they can read, work through and return to at their own pace.

01 / WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Give every decision a reason
you can explain.

Knowing a poker term is different from using it when a hand gets uncomfortable. A range matters because it changes which hands can call your bet. Pot odds matter because they tell you the price of continuing. Tournament payouts matter because winning chips and gaining prize equity are not always the same thing.

The course connects those ideas through practical situations, helping you ask better questions before choosing an action. You will work on three parts of your game throughout the lessons:

  • Understand the decision in front of you. Identify position, effective stacks, possible ranges and the purpose of a bet before reaching for a rule or a memorised answer.
  • Use the numbers in context. Calculate pot odds, expected value and drawing probabilities, then account for future betting, uncertain reads and the assumptions that can change the result.
  • Review your play with a plan. Reconstruct a hand, compare alternatives and choose one idea to study next, while keeping bankroll limits and variance in perspective.

INSIDE A LESSON

Read it, reason through it, then test yourself.

Lessons combine explanations with realistic hands, worked calculations and decisions to pause over. You choose an action before seeing the reasoning, then use five practice questions to test how well you can apply the idea.

It is a written format that gives you room to think. Revisit a calculation, use a maths tool alongside the explanation and move on when the reasoning makes sense to you.

02 / EXPERIENCE THE TEACHING

Work through a river decision.

You have a pair, the draws have missed and your opponent bets half the pot. Calling because they “might be bluffing” is only the start of an answer. In this public sample, choose an action and then compare the price of the call with the range estimate you have been given.

THE DECISION LAB / 01RIVER · HEADS UP
?Opponent bets $50
K♠9♣6♥2♦4♣
POT BEFORE BET
$100
A♠9♦
YOU · A PAIR OF NINES

Your opponent may have value hands or missed draws. Suppose your range work estimates they bluff 30% of the time here. What do you do?

This is how the course approaches a hand: establish what is known, make the assumptions explicit and examine the decision. The paid lessons build on that process with further examples, exercises and explanations for the practice questions.

03 / YOUR LEARNING PATH

From the foundations to
the decisions that challenge you.

The seven modules are designed to connect. Foundations establish the rules and context; mathematics and ranges explain the reasoning; cash-game and tournament lessons apply it to different situations. The final modules turn observations, bankroll planning and review into a more deliberate routine.

If you are starting out, follow the modules in order. If you already play, use the outline to identify a gap and revisit the earlier concepts it depends on. Expand a module to see its lessons and the kind of decision you will practise.

Start with the information every later decision depends on: how a hold’em hand works, which five cards count, who acts when and how much is actually at risk. Position and effective stacks then give you a way to understand why the same hand can play very differently from one seat or stack depth to another.

  1. Rules, actions and hand rankings
  2. Position, effective stacks and stack-to-pot ratio

Put it into practice: Compare a top-pair decision at shallow and deep stacks, and explain what the extra money behind changes.

04 / FIVE INTERACTIVE MATHS TOOLS

Change an assumption.
Understand what changes with it.

A number becomes more useful when you can see where it comes from. The maths lab lets you enter a situation, follow the workings and compare the result after changing an input. Use it alongside a lesson or when reviewing a hand away from the table.

A WORKED POT-ODDS EXAMPLE

There is $150 in the pot after a bet, and calling costs $50. Your call would make a $200 pot, so the break-even equity is:

$50 to call÷$200 final pot=25% required equity

If the call cost $100 into a current $150 pot, the requirement would rise to 40%. The price changes; your estimate of the opponent’s range still needs its own reasoning.

  • 01

    Pot odds & call EV

Calculate the break-even equity for a final-street or all-in call, then compare it with an equity estimate. It prices the decision; it does not determine the opponent’s range for you.

  • 02

    Drawing odds

Find the probability of hitting a fixed set of outs with one or two cards to come. The explanation distinguishes hitting an out from winning the hand and reminds you to consider future betting.

  • 03

    Bluff thresholds

Explore how bet size changes the fold frequency a zero-equity bluff needs to break even. Compare the threshold with a reasoned estimate of how the opponent’s range responds.

  • 04

    Bankroll planning

Translate a chosen buy-in reserve into a bankroll or an affordable stake. The reserve is an input you choose, not a guarantee that a particular bankroll is safe from loss.

  • 05

    Three-player ICM

Use three stack sizes and a three-place payout structure to explore modelled prize equity. See why the same number of chips can have a different prize value as the stacks change.

The tools are included in the paid course and are for off-table study. The example above assumes no further betting or rake; real decisions need the relevant game conditions and a sound equity estimate.
